FOXTON D.H. SCHOOL.
COAIAIITTEE AIEETING. The monthly meeting of the Foxton D.H. School was held last night presided over by Air. J. K. Hornblow (chairman). There were also present: Messrs S. E. Cowley, D. Christie, A. G. Huntley, H. Hutchins, John Ross, A. W. Stevenson, R. Rangiheuea (hon. sec.), and the headmaster, All*. F. A. Alason. An apology for absence was received from All*. AI. Perreau. Correspondence was read and dealt with as follows: —
From the Foxton Borough Council, acquainting committee of the Board’s request to have the water charge at the school remitted and asking whether the committee is sympathetic with the application. The chairman said that the payment of the water charge was a drain on the capitation grant, and in other centres the local bodies did not impose a charge for water supplied to the schools. Prior to the water and drainage system the Borough Council reduced the sanitation charge to half rates. —It was decided to advise the Council that the Committee endorses the Board’s application. Accounts amounting to £42 16s Id were passed for payment.
Jt was decided to ask the Board to refund the amount expended by the committee on the western boundary fence.
A report was submitted, re the work carried out on the site of the old residence in preparing same for agricultural work. The chairman and secretary were appointed visitors for the month. The headmaster reported on several matters in connection with school routine.
