“I shall not be standing again,” said Mr. Wl 11. 'Field, who represented Otaki in the last Parliament, 'at his Weraroa meeting. “You will ionly have me for three years more.” Mr. F. C. Roe: Five years, isn’t it? Mr. Field: I have always been in favour of four-year Parliaments, and if there is a chance of voting for tha-t I shall certainly do so. 'Mr. Field added that he believed he was going to be returned by a handsome' majority. He had grown old in the service of the electors, but he had sufficient energy to serve three years more. v MR. LINKLATER AT RANGIOTU. Despite flood and inclement weather conditions experienced last evening there was an attendance of 61 settlers in the Rangiotu Hall to hear Mr. J. Linklater, Reform candidate for Manawatu, last evening.- Mr. H. Bond was boted to the chair. In introducing the candidate, Mr. Bond said that during Mr. Linklater’s six years in Parliament as the representative of this district, he had done his duty irrespective of whether he offended anybody or not. Mr. Linklater was one of the best members in the House. He was an honest, straight man. (Applause).

On rising to speak, Mr. Linklater was accorded a hearty round of applause. The address was listened to with interest and at the conclusion the speaker was accorded a vote of thanks and confidence on the motion of Messrs H. Bond and Brook-Taylor.

Speaking at Rangiotu last evening, Mr. Linklater, Reform candidate for Manawatu, paid a tribute to the work of the Manawatu Herd Testing Association, which had originated at Rangiotu and since its inception had earned such excellent work among the herds of the Manawatu.
