231 CANDIDATES NOMINATED. ' A total of 212 candidates will contest the 76 European seats at the general election on November 14th. The Maori nominations total nineteen. Reform candidates head the list, there being 68 nominees for the European scats. Labour is sending 57 candidates to the poll, and the United Party 55. There are now twelve Independents, seven Independent Reformers, five Country Party representatives, three supporters of Liberal-Labour, two of Independent Labour, one of Independent Liberal-Labour, one Independent United candidate, and one Christian Socialist. 'There will now be straight-out contests in 26 electorates, triangular contests in 40 electorates, and four-cornered contests in ten electorates.
