SUNDAY TENNIS.

TE AROHA REQUEST REFUSED. Auckland, October 30. * A request from the Te Aroha Tennis Club, which recently formed nine grass courts at the Waihou Domain, for permission to use the courts on Sundays was refused by the Domain Board at its monthly meeting. Mr. Cowley advanced the view * that players should be satisfied with the time afforded during the week. Mr. Mackay said that the board as a public body should oppose the use of the Domain on Sundays for games. The chairman, Mr. W. T. Hughes, after recalling that golf could not be prevented at Wellington on Sundays, seconded a motion refusing the request. This was carried.
