MENTAL PATIENT’S DEATH.

INQUIRY AT NELSON. Nelson, October 28. An inquii'y into the death of a Nelson mental hospital patient, a young boy, who died as a result of being given a drink of formalin by a fellow boy patient, aged 13, was concluded at the hospital to-day. The Coroner’s verdict was that deceased died from shock caused through poisoning by drinking formalin, which was administered to him by a mental patient with intent to kill. The mental .patient was not responsible for his actions by reason of his insanity. The fact that he was able to ‘gain access to formalin was due to exceptional circumstances and not to the negligence of any person.
