POLITICAL.
Mr. J. H. Taylor, Labour candidate if or Manawatu, will address the electors at Foxton on Thursday, November Ist and Moutoa on Monday, November sth. “HONEST JOE.” A fine tribute was paid to Mr. J. Linklater by the chairman of the public meeting held in Rongotea last evening to hear the Reform candidate’s views in connection with the election. In introducing Mr. Linklater, Mr. A. Yarrall said that they were all pleased to see Mr. Linklater looking so well after the strenuous session which had terminated the recent Parliament’s term of office. He felt sure that the majority of the electors were perfectly satisfied with Mr. Linklater’a work in Parliament. Mr. Linklater, said the speaker, had risen above the dignity of a politician —he was an honest man. (Applause). The chairman concluded his remarks by hoping that the electors would rally around the Reform candidate at the coming election and see that he was returned with a large majority. Mr. Linklater addressed the meeting, the attendance at which constituted a record for Rongotea this election, on the lines- on which he had addressed previous meetings throughout the constituency, and at the conclusion, after answering several questions, was accorded a hearty vote of thanks and confidence on the motion of Messrs C. Liggins and W. Gloyn, the former speaker stressing the necessity for electors supporting the official Reform candidate at the coming poll and avoiding vote splitting.
