CLOSING OF THE FLAXMILLS.
There is nothing fresh to report in connection with the closing of the flaxmills. W(e are informed that the local flaxmill employees desire to form a. local union and steps are being taken to bring this into effect. The Mayor (Mr. Perreau) informed us this morning that he has conferred with both local employers and employees and that a ! meeting of all concerned is to be held on Monday. Mr. P. Halley, conciliation commissioner, is conferring with representatives of both parties at Ralmerston North to-day.
