SIR JOSEPH WARD

TO TAKE SHORT REST. Wellington, October 24. Sir Joseph Ward is suffering from eye trouble and is undergoing treatment. He is advised that he must rest for a short period before the strenuous work in front of him. His tour of the South will therefore be postponed in the meantime. He expresses the hope that the people of New Zealand will excuse him from making political addresses as he had intended doing. He states definitely that, despite all criticism by his opponents in regard to his loan proposals, if given the opportunity he will put them into effect.
