ENTERTAINMENTS.

TOWN HALL. The charm of May McAvoy’s personality suffuses “Irish Hearts” the headliner at the Town Hall tonight, with a glowing loveliness. It is the second Warner Bros.’ production to be made under her new longterm contract, and her starr-. ing role is distinctly a “personality part” and fits the diminutive star like a glove. The vivacious, funloving Patsy from Erin offers a character that brings out all of Miss McAvoy’s radiant self. The magnetic force of her individuality has never been so strongly felt as in “Irish Hearts.” Instead of the wistful, languishing beauty of “Lady Windermere’s Fan,” there is a high-spirited, unconquerable colleen with a flash in her eye and a quick retort on her pretty bps, a lighting little “Irisher,” who is up in arms when her patience is tried to the breaking point by an intolerant employer, a faithful sweetheart, and a shiftless father. With “Soup to Nuts” (Comedy), News and N.Z. Scenic. Usual prices. On Monday Tom Mix and Tony will appear in a fast action story “The Arizona Wildcat,” at usual prices. ROYAL. AJ Wilson, recognised as the peer of stunters in aerial films, will appear at the head of the cast in “The Phantom Flyer,” at the Royal tonight. In this picture many new stunts are shown including a, leap from a motor cycle to a swooping' ’plane, a hand to hand fight on the wings of a ’plane thousands of feet in the air, etc. The story, a logical one, deals with a western feud into which the young airman is accidentally drawn. The supporting pictures are “Oh Mabel,” a laughable comedy, the latest British and American News and a cartoon. Prices as usual, 9d and 1/6. Children 3d and 6d. “On your Toes,” a Reginald Denny special attraction is booked for early screening at the Royal.
