LOSS BY EARTHQUAKE COVERED. Wellington, October 2. In the House of Representatives, the State Eire Insurance Amendment Bill was read a second time without debate. The Bill seeks to give the offi.ee power to accept risks against loss or damage by earthquake of insfirable property situated in New Zealand and also to accept any class of insurance business which is commonly accepted in New Zealand, or elsewhere, by fire insurance companies. In this extended business, the office is-to have authority to reinsure in the same way as it may reinsure against fire risks. The House then went into committee on bills read a second time and these were subsequently reported from committee, read a third time and passed.
