DROWNING FATALITY.

BODY OF MISSING BOY FOUND. When rowing up the Manawatu River this morning for the purpose of whitebaiting, Mr. ,T. Kelly discovered the body of the child, Jimmy Morgan, aged five years, who has been missing from a farm at Whirokino since September sth, when he accompanied Thelma Whitlow on a whitebaiting expedition, and afterwards disappeared. Despite the- fact that the river has been dragged and carefully searched by the police and relatives of the child, no trace of the body was discovered until this morning. This is attributed to the fact that at the time of the child’s disappearance the river was partly in flood and has continued to carry a good deal of “fresh” water until the last few- days. This morning the Manawatu was the lowest it has been for many weeks, and revealed the child’s body caught on a snag a short distance below the spot where the two children had been whitebaiting on the day of the fatality. Constable Bell removed the body to the morgue this morning, and an inquest will be held at an early date.
