MOTOR BANDITS.
HOLD-UP IN AUCKLAND. Auckland, 'Sept. 29. Mount Eden road, in the vicinity o£ the railway station, was the scene of a sensational hold-up by two motor bandits at 10 o’clock last night. They escaped in a motorcar after brandishing a revolver and threatening to shoot Mr. George T. Pearce, a clothier and mercer, and his wife, who were en route to their home, 81,' Mount Eden road. In the darkness one man grabbed an attache case from Mrs. Pearce, and almost immediately another man attacked Mr. Pearce and struck him. He recovered in time to sec the assailants running across the road to the unlit ear. Following quickly, he jumped on the running board. One man tried to get the ear going. One man produced a revolver and pointed it at Mr. Pearce's head. He said: “Gel off, or I will shoot you.” Air. Pearce stepped off and the ear dashed off at a high speed, This morning the car was found abandoned. It had been stolen. The attache case contained over £5 in cash.
