ODDS AND ENDS.
To dissipate any unpleasant odour after eating onions, clean the teeth well, then drink a glass of milk. Oil of cloves dabbed on the forehead and temples will relieve a headache. When making jam it is not necessary to skim it if a tablespoon of butter is added just before removing from the fire. It will also .’be beautifully clear. To wash chamois leather use warm soapy water. Rinse and leave well soaped —do not wring. When dry rub gently and it will be as soft as when new. Soiled lace can be made to look ' like new by squeezing it in hot, soapy water, then in clean cold water and finally dipping it in milk to stiffen it. Afterwards press it on the wrong side with a fairly hot iron.
