PLUNKET SOCIETY’S CONFERENCE.
IMPORTANT REMITS ADOPTED. Some important remits were discussed and adopted at the general conference of the Plunket Society delegates, held at Wellington last month. S|he local society was re-presented-by MSsdames F. Robinson (president) and D. R- Barron (bon. secretary). The following are some of the remits dealt with: Decided to urge upon the Government the necessity for inspection of dairy herds in connection with bovine tuberculosis, and endeavour to secure a pure milk supply. One quarter of t.b. cases in human beings is attributed to infected milk. 'The. necessity for seeking medical aid' for sick children and to send them to public hospitals if unable to pay for private medical attention, ■Sweets scrambles be discountenanced unless sweets are paper covered. That tradesmen be requested not to use “Plunket” cot on any but the ideal cot approved of by the society. Maori Health .nurses be given Plunket training in order to teach the work to the Maori race. That a film dealing with Plunket work be available for use of branches for propaganda. • That exemption from rates he granted to Plunket Societies on land and buildings owned and occupied by the society and that the society be exempted from stamp duties. That in the interests of school children who cannot get home to a mid-day meal and have to carry a parcelled lunch, branches might foster interest by offering in the domestic section of Horticultural Society .shqws, a yearly prize for the most nutritious, best balanced aiid appetising and generally suitable child’s lunch.
