WATER SUPPLY TO SCHOOLS.
At last night's meeting' of the Wanganui Education Board, the secretary reported that in only two boroughs in the Board’s district were the schools charged for water supplied and that was in Foxton and Patea. Mr. Adams said Mangawcka made a charge at one time. Mr. Ilornblow said local bodies could not impose a water rate and he was of opinion that as the pupils were the children of ratepayers and the water was used for sanitation purposes it should be sup- 1 plied without cost. Mr. Hemingway (Patea), supported Mr. Hornblow, and it was decided to ask the Foxton and Patea Borough Councils to forego water charges in future.
