POSTAL MATTERS.
RURAL DELIVERY. Commencing on Monday, 17 th inst., the rural delivery which has been running from Levin to Foxton for many years, will change over and SUnmence from Foxton, leaving at 8 a.m. each day. This will mean that the box-holders will receive their mail 4 hours earlier. The rural delivery to Oroua Downs has been extended to take in “Lake” and “Taikoroa” roads thereby increasing the box-holders by seven and making a total of 54. The extended service will commence on Ist October. Mr. F. G. Rout has taken over from the Highways Transport Co. Ltd., the undermentioned mail contracts : 1. Foxton-Levin to Wellington. 2. Levin-Ihakara to Foxton. 3. Ohau-Kuku. The Foxton-Levin will start on Monday, 17th, and the alteration will mean that the Wellington and Levin mails which are now reaching Foxton at 7 p.m. will not arrive until 9 p.m., the old time-table.
