FOXTON HORTICULTURAL SHOW.

The Foxton Horticultural Society’s Spring show was officially opened on Thursday afternoon by the Mayor (Mr. M. E. Perreau), who was formerly introduced Iby Mr. D. Christie (President). Mr. Perreau referred to the good work that was being done by’ the Society, and was gratified to note the success which was attendant on its efforts. The local Society had done good work in creating an interest in horticulture in Foxton, which had been reflected in au improved environment. The Society was deserving of great credit for its good work and-‘the highest praise was due to the President, Secretary and past secretary for their efforts on behalf of the Society. Mr. Perreau expressed pleasure at seeing the children so well represented by exhibits, particularly in the cooking classes. It was wry gratifying to note that the younger generation was evincing an interest in the So ciety, and upon them the Society was dependant in the future. He was also pleased to see visitors present from Wellington, Otaki, .Oroua Downs and elsewhere. The Society was particularly pleased to see Rev. Peryman and to have nim exhibiting locally from so far away as the Hutt. Mr. Perreau expressed the Society’s delight at having one of its foundation members, in the person of Mrs. A. S. Easton, present that afternoon, and he accorded her a warm reception on behalf of the Society. Mrs. Easton’s absence from Shows during the last few years had been felt by all concerned, and the shows had somehow not seemed the same. However, they were very pleased to see her present that day. The Mayor then formerly declared the show opened. CUT BLOOMS. Judge: Mr. Witched; steward: Miss B. Speirs. SECTION A. Magni Coronati: —6 blooms, lor more varieties: Mrs. E. J. Murphy 1, Rev.
