S.M. COURT.
MONTHLY SITTING. The monthly sitting of the local S.M. Court was held in the Courthouse this morning before Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M. RATEPAYERS’ LISTS. Ratepayers’ lists for the Moutoa Drainage Board and Manawatu Rabbit Board were approved by the S.M., no objections being received. MILITARY DEFAULTERS. J. F. Wjinstanley was charged with failing to attend drill. Staff-Sergeant Ryan in evidence said nothing had been seen of Winstanley for two years. He had received four notices to attend two parades and two camps, but had ignored all of them. When the summons was issued he had written to say that a year ago he had been operated on at Pahiatua and was unable to attend drill. Defendant was not present and was fined £5 with costs 10/-. BREACH OF FIREARM'S REGULATIONS. W. Sargisson, of Bainesse, being the owner of a .22 rifle was charged with failing to notify the nearest Arms Officer of the change of address. Accused was fined 10/- and costs 12/-. CYCLING WITHOUT LIGHTS. A. W. Brewer and H. P. Jakobson, charged with cycling after dark without lights, were each fined 5/- with costs 10/-. CIVIL CASES. Judgment was given for plainlit! in the following civil undefended cases:— IL E. Garbett v. H. Barton and M. K. Barton, £l4 13s Od, costs £2 19s Od; C. K. Wjoodroofe v. P. Anslow, £2 10s 9d, costs £1 8s 9d; same v. A. Ferris, £1 5s 6d, costs 8/-; S. H. Wrigley v. F. T. Shdw, £6 8s Gd and possession, costs £2 6s Od. JUDGMENT SUMMONS. A.. Wright was ordered to pay Leary and Co. Ltd., £29 12s 8d and costs £1 11s Gd forthwith, in default 28 days’ imprisonment.
