Rev. F. A. Bennett, Bishop-elect of Aoatea-Roa, will be consecrated by Archbishop Averill in Napier 'Cathedral on Sunday, December 2nd.

A well-known resident of Shannon, passed away in the Palmerston North hospital on Saturday in the person of Mrs. Olsen, relict of the late Mr. Knut Olsen, aged 52 years. At a meeting of the Ilorowhenua County Council on Saturday, feeling reference was made by the chairman (Mr. G. A, Monk), to the death of Mrs. Whyte, wife of Cr.'Whyte. The chairman said that their sympathies would go out to Cr. Whyte and family in the bereavement they had sustained. The councillors could feel very much for anybody who had suffered such a loss,' and particularly for Cr. Whyte, whom they had known so well for many years. A motion of condolence was passed, the councillors standing in silence.
