MANAWATU-OROUA RIVER BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Ma-nawatu-Oroua 'River Board was held in Palmerston North on Thursday. (There were present: Trustees H. Akers (in the chair), B. G. Gower, H. Barber, R. Tanner, and J. E. C. Harrison. An apology for absence was received from Trustee W. Carter. The rates were struck for the ensuing year and it was decided to hold an election to fill an extraordinary vacancy on the Board. After considerable discussion in committee it was resolved to strike the rates for the ensuing year on the same scale as previously. As the rates are levied on an average basis the scale will be 1/6 per acre on A class land, 1/- on B class land, and fid on 'C class land. This rate is estimated to produce a revenue of. £2,500.
Owing to the recent death of Trustee J. Richardson, of Kupoturoa, an extraordinary vacancy has occurred on the Board. As elections are held triennially and the Board has nearly two more years of office it was decided that the secretary call for nominations and proceed with an election to fill the vacancy.
