A longing to go to sea was given as the motive which led to a lad aged 14, one of a family of twelve, to take a launch which disappeared from her moorings at Brighton (states a Press message from Christchurch). He was committed to. the care of the child welfare officer. Mr. Mosley stated that an endeavour would be made to get the boy a job on a farm, and later, if he still had a desire for the sea, to get him placed on a ship.
