THE GENERAL ELECTION.

APPROXIMATE DATE FIXED.

In reply to a question by the Leader of the Opposition, re the date of the general election the Prime Minister said an approximate date has been fixed but I do not propose to make it public until we know that we can comply with it. Our first duty is to attend to the business of the country; the elections come afterwards. (Hear, hear). The general elections, I can assure the House, will not interfere with Christmas or business trade.
