Manawatu Herald THURSDAY, AUGUST 30, 1928. THE TENNIS CLUB.
THE local Tennis Club fills an important role, both socially and physically in the life of the community and is deserving of whatever financial support the community can render it, either by beeiming members and participating in the health-giving exercise or by a donation. In many centres municipal courts are provided where the game can be played on payment of a small annual fee to cover maintenance charges, but Foxton has not the population or the -Borough Council the finance, to provide such facilities. It therefore devolves upon tho club to provide all that is necessary in this connection. The club’s ground and courts are centrally situated, but money is required to provide a pavilion and improved environment and sufficient to meet interest and principal to gradually liquidate the mortgage on the property. Membership fees alone are not sufficient to do all that is required and we appeal, to the public to assist in whatever way they can to help along the. club and its band of enthusiastic members during the coming season.
