BOARD ENGINEER’S REPORT ON OPERATIONS. The Horowhenua Electric Power Board received the following report from the Engineer (Mr. J. A. Smith), at its monthly meeting on Tuesday:— Levin Depot.—During the period 74 poles have been carted out, fitted and erected;. 23 new service lines were put in and extra phases run on three existing service lines; two temporary service lines Avere erected. On secondary distribution lines 11240 chains of wire Avere run and approximately 420 chains of wire were used on service lines. One outdoor sub-station Avas erected and tAVo moved to iicav positions in Levin. One street lamp in Paraparaumu Avas moved to a neAV position. Earth-bonding Avas carried out in the Paraparaumu and Raumati districts. Tree cutting Avas done on Gladstone Road and at the Waikawa stream. Shannon Depot. —The attendants have erected poles, four service lines, extra phases on one existing service line, and run out 152 chains of wire; have assisted Levin gangs on line erection at Makerua and Gladstone road; have read meters, attended to general maintenance, consumers’ complaints and main sub-station. Construction. — The chief item under neAV construction for the period are the line to supply poAver. to pump at Makerua, and extension of L.T. to P. Easton’s shed at Moutoa. L.T. Avas extended at Ohau, Paraparaumu Beach, and ou existing poles at Hume’s Road, Foxton Beach Road, Manakau South Road, and extra wire erected at Gladstone Road, Hogg’s Road, and north of Manakau. The transformer near Mr. Pctherick’s Avas changed. Earth-testing Avas carried out 'between Otaki and Paekakariki; general maintenance and street lamp reneAvals. • Installations.*—During the period 22 applications from new consumers and 48 applications for. extensions to existing installations have been received, comprising five ranges, eight Avater heaters, ten milking motors, tAVO separator motors and tAVO pumping motors. Eighteen neAV consumers and 42 extensions haA r e been connected, including six ranges, 16 waterheaters, six milking motors, two separator motors, tAVo industrial motors and five i h.p. pumping motors. Fifty single-phase and five polyphase meters have been tested, and five single-phase meters repaired and re-tested. The chairman, in moving the adoption of the report, said it was satisfactory to note that 22 applications had been received from new consumers and 48 applications for extensions. The motion Avas seconded by Mi. Morse and the report adopted. The Board granted the Engineer s request for authority to purchase, against quotations noAV being received, about five tons bare copper cable, and three miles triple braided cable.
