OBITUARY.

MRS. J. R. WIIIYTE, AGED 57. The sympathy of Fox ton friends will go out to Mr. J. It. Whyte, of .Tokoniaru, in the irreparable Joss sustained through the death of his wife, which occurred at Tokomaru on Sunday, after a comparatively short but serious illness, at the age of 57 years. The late Mrs. Whyte was well-known in this district where she resided for some years prior to Mr. Whyte removing to Tokomaru. Deceased was a daughter of Mr. Cook, a well-known Petone family, and was esteemed for her kindly disposition. We join in extending our sympathy to the husband and family of four sons and daughter. The funeral took place at Palmerston North this afternoon.
