FOOTBALL.
The H.R.U. Secretary (Air. Casey) has received word that the Bush Union is prepared to meet the Horowhenua Third grade reps. Consequently arrangements have been made as follows: — Saturday, 18tli August, Third grade trial, North v. South. " Wednesday, 22nd August, Third grade rep. game, Horowhenua v. Bush, at Pahiatua, at 2.30 p.m. A committee meeting of the Foxton Football Club was held last evening, presided over by Air. H. Hutchins (President). Also present were Alessrs C. Rand, iC. Procter, R. Cochrane, AY. Currie and the secretary (Air. R. Hornblow). The president reported on matters dealt with at the Horowhenua Council meeting. A letter was received from the H.R.C. notifying the closing date of nominations for the Junior Knockout Competition. It was decided to enter the Juniors in the competition. The H.R.C. also notified the Club of the fixtures drawn up in connection with the Thirds.
Accounts amounting to £7 10s fid were passed for payment. It, was pointed out that the local seniors had fulfilled more engagements this season than any other club in the Union, a matter which had been favourably commented on by the Council.
