MAORI MISSION PARTY.
A picturesque and respected personalitv in (he Methodist Maori party visiting Foxton on August 15, in connection with the celebrations of the 10(51 h anniversary of the establishment of the Methodist Maori Missions is To Aho-o-te-Rangi Pihama. He is the nineteenth in the direct male line from Tloturea, the chief who brought the ancestors of the Waikato tribes to New Zealand in the Tniniii canoe. He is a close relation of the Maori King (To Rata Mahuta), and carries with him one of the King’s Tainhas, as a sign of the King’s approval of his mission in our district. Chief Te Alio is an outstanding orator in his own language and speaks through an interpreter.
