SECURING FAMILY ALLOWANCE.

* BY FALSE STATEMENT. Christchurch, July 31. Frederick Lloyd John Morgan, aged 32, pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court to-day on a charge jof making a false statement to an officer of the Pensions’ Department with intent to secure a family allowance (under the legislation of last session). According to the evidence Morgan stated he was earning £2 weekly. Enquiries proved he was earning £4. In answer to the Magistrate Morgan said the reason why he applied for the allowance was that he had been in financial trouble. He was a married man with four children. Morgan was fined £2, in default fourteen days.
