USE OF lODISED SALT,

“The Department of Health, by newspaper articles and public addresses, has' endeavoured to press upon the public, generally the, desirability of using iodised salt, especially in endemic areas,” said the Minister of Health (Hon. J. A. ■Young) in the House of Representatives in reply to a question by Mr. T. K. Sidey .(Dunedin South). “In addition, school - medical offers in the.,course of the'medical examination of school children have made a practice of advising par- . ents of children suffering from goitre, even in minor degree, that the use of iodised salt is desirable. The evidence the Department has shown that.ah increasing ;use is being made of this salt 'and .that in endemic ax*eas a very considerable proportion of Yhe salt used is of this nature.”
