TOWN HALL.

Hoot Gibson regarded by many as the most popular screen star in the profession to-day, has been provided with a new picture that is certain, according to advance reports, to be one of his greatest hits. It is “A Trick of Hearts,” the Universal picture coming to the Town Hall on Friday. The film is a humorous drama with many thrilling incidents built around a clever romance. It is a type of offering that is almost certain to make a hit with every kind of audience. The company supporting Hoot Gibson in the stellar role is particularly n'oteworthy. It contains players who have not oily reached fame on the screen, but have also achieved prominence on the legitimate stage. Georgia Hale, pretty and a clever actress, plays opposite the star. It is her second appearance with Hoot. Her first was in “Rawhide Kid,” and she did so well that director Reaves Eason made her the heroine in “A Trick of Hearts.” Joe Rickson plays the “heavy,” while others in the supporting cast are such people as Rosa Gore, Howard Truesdale, Heinie Conklin,. George Ovev, Nora Cecil, Dan Ci’inimins and Grace Canard. Reaves Eason is known in Hollywood for his genius in directing thrilling riding scenes. He made full use of his skill ,and Hoot Gibson’s horsemanship in “A Trick of Hearts,” and screen audiences are certain to find the several riding scenes daring and exciting. With supports at usual prices. “Old San Francisco,” a big thrill feature will head Saturday’s programme.

ROYAL. Norma Shearer can always be relied upon to do the unusual in her pictures and when “The Latest from Paris” comes to the Royal theatre on Saturday, audiences will see this charming star in the role of a wide-awake travelling saleswoman. This is not the firlt time that Miss Shearer has invaded man’s own particular field of endeavour, having previously played the role of a lady barrister in “The Waning Sex.” Ralph Forbes appears opposite Miss Shearer in the leading male role, while the supporting cast includes three well-known comedians in George Sidney, Tenen Holtz and Bert Roach. Under the direction of Sam Wood, “The Latest from Paris” is a positive whirlwind of fashions, fuss and hilarious fun. Also special comedy “Never the dames shall meet,” News and N.Z. Scenic.
