PERSONAL

Mr and Mrs J. Reid left Foxton yesterday, en route for Australia. The friends of Mrs Gibbs, of Manawatu Heads, will regret to learn that she has been seriously ill. Mr. F. W; Roydhouse, physical instructor under the Education Department, is visiting the schools in this district. To-day was spent at the local D.H. School. A distinguished visitor to the Dominion is Father Cyril J. Martindale, S.J., M.A., who arrived from England by the Rotorua on Saturday morning, and is making a brief stay here before going on to Sydney to attend the Eucharistic Congress in September. The Mayor of Taihape, Mr A. J. Joblin, died on Sunday morning, aged 66. He had been ill for several months of a heart complaint, and leaves a widow, four sons and two daughters. He was a member of the Wanganui Education Board for a number of years.
