INTRODUCTION NEXT WEEK

WELLINGTON. Junly 13. The first instalment of the Government’s legislative programme will be submitted to Parliament next week, according to an announcement made by tho Prime Minister in reply to a question asked by the Leader of the Opposition in the House of Representatives yesterday. Mr Holland sought an indication from the Prime Minister as to the order of business for next -week. Tt was generally expected, he said, that the Address-m-Reply debato would finish either at the end of the current week or early next week, and members would bo considerably helped if they knew what business it was proposed to take. The Prime Minister replied that in the event of the debato finishing this week, Tuesday next would be devoted to the presentation of reports and the giving of notice of the appointment of select committees. The Leader of the Opposition: Can you sav what reports’? The Prime Minister said that if the printing of the Samoan report had been completed, it would he presented along with other reports dealing with Samoa. Ordinary departmental reports were needy for submission if those relating to the mandated terrifoiy were not available. “We .have a number of hills to introduce,” added the Prime Minister, “ancl it is proposed to have these rfad pro forma, and referred to committees. If the committees have not been set up, it is suggested that the second reading speeches he taken. These measures include the Kiiiematogrnph Film Bill, the Municipal Corporation Amendment Bill, and other hills of that description.” Mr Coates mentioned that Wednesday would 1)6 taken up with private members’ business, and Thursday would ho do voted to reports and bills.
