Reporting to the Hospital Board on Thursday, Mr Aisher, relieving officer, reported that “charitable aid in Palmerston North has again increased. I assisted 37 families with 349 rations at a cost of £B7, as against 125 rations at a cost of £33 for June, 1927. Last month it was 31 families, 261 rations, costing £65 ss. • “A great number of men are still on the roads looking for work. Forty called on me during the month, of which I assisted 31 with meals and beds costing £9 Bs. In June, 1827, 1 assisted 20 at a cost of £5 4s.
