LAUNCH MISSING.
TWO MEN ON BOARD. Per Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, July 8. Two men and their launch are missing from the port of New Plymouth. A strong wind is blowing, and a lngh sea running. Fears are entertained for the men's safety. The men are: — Alfred Allen, aged JO, owner ol the launch; P. J. Bartholomew, a labourer, aged 50. Both are married men. They left the harbour at 9.30 a.in. on Friday, on a fishing expedition, intending to return in the evening. There was no sign of them this morning. The harbourmaster (Captain Waller) and three men put to sea in the Harbour Board launch, and searched the vicinity of Saddle-Back Island. The visibility was very poor, and heavy rain was falling continuously. they returned this evening. 'I lie sea is moderating somewhat to-night, but is still stormy, and heavy rain is falling, the coast in the vicinity is lor the most part exposed and rocky, where the men are thought to have been fishing.
