TOWN HALL,
The mirth provoking marines of “What Price Glory,” Sammy Cohen and Ted McNamara, have been teamed again, this time in the featured roles of “The Gay Retreat,” Fox Films war comedy, coming to the Town Hall on Friday. This is a hilarious story, of war days and Paris nights and is said to set a new standard in feature length war comedies. The story deals with a sleep-walking doughboy and the two pals who join the army with him to keep him from walking into No Man’s Land in his sleep. Previews of this production have brought peals of delighted laughted from hard-boiled critics. With “Four Faces Wyst’ Van Bibber comedy, and News. Usual prices. John Gilbert will star on Saturday in a dramatic sea story of pre-sent-day piracy. “Twelve Miles Out.” ROYAL. A Universal-Film do France Production of “Les Miserables” will be shown on Saturday on the Royal theatre. The early scenes depicting the convict life of Jean Valjean were filmed at the convict prison of Toulon, France, and the others at Digne, Montfermeil, Montreuil-sur-Mer, the actual towns in which the scenes are laid in the novel. “Sets were avoided as much as possible, although these had to be built for the incidents occurring in Paris. This masterpiece from the pen of Victor Hugo is one of the most stirring stories of fiction and has been transferred to the screen by a special cast of players numbering many thousands.
