A “PEEPING TOM.”

CONVICTED AND FINED,

Invercargill, July 3,

James Shand, a clerk, aged 20, was charged, with being illegally on premises about midnight. A%oman who was retiring saw the man’s face at the window and screamed. The intruder ran away. Later he was peering into another house when a woman raised the alarm. A male occupant of the house gave chase and captured and thrashed him.

The accused admitted the Offences, and his counsel asked for leniency on the ground that the actions were due to drink.

The Magistrate, Mr G. Cruickshank, fined him £lO and £5 on the two charges, and refused to suppress his name.
