BURGLARIES IN . PALMERSTON.

TWO SHOPS ENTERED,

Palmerston N., July 4,

On Tuesday night burglars made an entry to a cake shop in Rangitikei Street, occupied by Mr. G. Steel, and to a cycle shop adjoining, occupied by Mr. G. S. Thompson. Nothing of great value was taken from either place) but the thieves made every effort to reach the contents of a safe in Mr. Thompson’s shop. Fortunately they could not open it. lir Mr. Steel's shop boxes of sweets were littered about the floor and the thieves also took a good supply away with them. It was evident they had made a search for cash, but there was none in the shop at the time. Entrance to both premises was obtained from the back.
