MAYOR OF WAIPAWA KILLED.
Waipawa, July 4
The Mayor, Mr. H. M. Kathbone, who was a victim of a motor accident last night, died this morning without recovering consciousness. He was crossing .the road on his way home when a motor-lorry driven by W. F. Stanley knocked him down, causing a fracture of tho base of the skull and other injuries.
Deceased, who was 58 years of age, leaves a widow and family of four. He had been prominently identified with the civic life of the community for the past thirty years, and was for seven years Mayor of Waipawa.
