THEFT OF PAIR OF BOOTS
NATIVE SENTENCED TO FOURTEEN DAYS’ IMPRISONMENT.
At the local police court yesterday morning, before Messrs D. R. Ogilvy and G. Fraser, J’s.P., Rupuha Kemp, a native, aged 29 years was charged with the theft of .a pair of boots from Woodroofc’s auction mart.
In evidence Constable Owen said that the theft occurred on the 23rd June, and suspicion had fallen on accused who had a had record and was on license in connection' with another theft. Accused was watched and subsequently found to be wearing the hoots. Owing to accused’s bad record, lie was sentenced to 14 days’ imprisonment. In the above case the theft was not reported to the police until last Friday and within 24 hours Constable Bell had made the arrest.
