There is a wealth of information in the statistics which are published below regarding the Oroun, Manana tu, Kairanga, and Horowhcmia counties, all of which form part of <>ur prosperous district. The area and tho population (including interior boroughs and • own districts) of the four counlies arc as follows;—
More important from the point of showing the wealth of the district are the figure s relating to values: —
Oroun, capital value £4,007,293; unimproved .value £2,705,758; value of improvements £1,961,535. Manawatu, capital value £2,926,065; unimproved value £2,675,190; value of improvements £1,250,875. Kairanga, capital value £11,361,714; unimproved value £5,836,270; value of improvements £5,525,474. Horowhenua, capital value £6,662,021 unimproved value £4,217,394; value of improvements £2,444,627.
The number of occupied holdings of one acre and upwards, together with the total area of land in cultivation (including sown grasses, fallow, gardens, and orchards), is shown in the following table: — Occupied Area in Holdings.
