SALVATION ARMY.
MUSICAL EVENING. There was an appreciative audience at the Royal theatre on Thursday evening last on the occasion of the visit of the Feilding S.A. Band and songsters. The talented visitors were heartily welcomed by Ensign Rawcliffo and Captain Thorne, on behalf of the visitors, expressed pleasure at being present despite the sacrifice entailed.
Much appreciated marches and selections were rendered by the Band, under the conductorship of Bandmaster Dutton, of Wellington. The programme was ns follows: —. March “Ever Onward,” Band; solo, “Song that reached my Heart,” encore “Old Virginy,” Miss Dewe; mouth organ selection, Captain Thorne; negro melodies by male quartette; band selection “My Jesus;” vocal selection by female trio; cornet solo “Zelda,’ M. Dutton; male quartette “Peaniatio Melody;” march band “Comrade;” solo, “Valley of Laughter,” Miss Hughes; female quartette, “Nazeveno”;" cornet solo, Bandmaster Dutton; solo, “Annie 1 Laurie” (encored) Miss Dewe; hand selection “Nearer my God to Thee” (special request) ; march, “Under the Colours” band. The National Anthem concluded a much appreciated programme.
