Capetown, June 20. The All Blacks played the seventh match of I heir tour to-day, meeting Western Transvaal at Potshefstroom. The half-time score in the game was: —All Blacks O—W. Transvaal 0. The final score was: —All Blacks 10 —AY. Transvaal 8. The team yesterday was as follows : Fall-hack: Lilhurne; three-quar-ters: Rushbrook, Sheen, Lucas; live-eighths: Strang, Nieholls; halfback: Kilby; wing-forward: Stewart; forwards: Hadley, Ilore, AL Brownlie, Alley, Finlayson, Snow, C. Brownlie. Emcrgtneies: Robillinrd, Ward. _ AIOASCAR CUP. TE AI'TE DEFEAT P.N. HIGH SCHOOL. Excellent play was witnessed at Palmerston North yesterday in the Afoascar Cup game, Te Ante (holders) v. P.N. Bovs’ High School. There were several thousand spectators. There was not a dull moment from start to finish. To Auto’s weight stood them in good stead, ami although School missed what should have been certain trios, the result of the game in favour of Te Ante was a fair indication of (ho merits of the teams. ' The ground • was very heavy and sure foothold was uncertain.
The first, spell ended 3 all, but the game ended Te Ante 14 —School 0. Air. A. W. Thompson controlled the game.
At Pallialua yesterday afternoon before ail attendance of about (500 tiie Bush Senior reps., sulfeml their second defeat in their second game of the season, this time at the hands of Wlairarapa, the final score being 31 to (5. Candy was in great form scoring 18 of the 31 points.
HOROWHENUA DISTRICT COUNCIL MEETING. The weekly meeting of the management committee of the Horowhenua Rugby District Council was held in Levin on Tuesday. COMPLAINT AGAINST A COACH. Mr. Henry Hemi, referee in the Shannon v. Wanderers third grade match, played at Prouse’s Paddock on Saturday, wrote reporting that Air. Kore Carter, coach of the Shannon team, disputed his decisions, wanted to fight him, and used obscene language both on and off Ihe ground. The chairman said that the status of a coach was equivalent to that of a spectator, and the Council could not take the same action as in the case of an offending- player. Air. Procter remarked that the Council must protect its referees. The chairman admitted this, but added that the Council could not take action against spectators on public grounds. Alembers concurred in the view that cases of obscene language could be referred to the police.
The chairman moved trat the case be referred to the Shannon Club, and that they be asked to bring the referee’s charges to the notice of Air. Carter.
Mr. Casey seconded the motion, and it was carried. Mr. Richards stated that his club would look into the matter and would report to the Council at its next meeting. INJURED FOXTON PLAYERS. Intimation was received from the secretary of the Fixtou Club (Mr. R;. Hornbiow) that G. Woods, a senior, and Chipper, a junior, of that club, were injured in their respective matches on Saturday. Medical certificates were forwarded in respect of these players, also a certificate that R. G. Findlay would lie fit for work on the* 18th inst. It was decided that, as Woods had not handed his fee to an official of the Council or to the referee, his insurance was out of order.
CLUB COMPETITIONS. The question of postponing or otherwise dealing with the club competitions, in view of the representative tour, was brought up by the chairman, and it was decided that the competitions he carried on. MANAWATU MATCH. Final arrangements were made for the IJorowhenua-Mannwatu match, to he played at Shannon next Saturday. Mr. E. M. Ryder was appointed manager of the A team, and S. Hooper manager of the B. team. The appointment of captains was left to the selector and the players. SCHOOL FOOTBALL.
Mr. McDonald gave a verbal review of the position of scdiool football in the district. He stated that he had received about twenty letters from teachers expressing gratitude for the Council’s donations of footballs for the schools. He quoted frm a letter written hv Mr. F. A. Mason, headmaster of the Foxton District High School, who expressed his thanks for the gift’s of a football each for the main school and the side school (Beach school), and paid a tribute to the Council for the practical interest which it showed in Foxton school football last year. This communication, said Mr. McDonald, was icpresentative of the feeling of all the teachers in the district towards the Council. He added that there were five teams in the Austin Banner competition this season, and this meant that 100 schoplboys
. .. were getting a grounding in football. A match was played every Saturday, and the competition consisted of 10 matches. At the end of the season a team would be sent to play in Wellington; and a team from the Hntfc Valley would play a game against the Horowhenua schools. The latter would also play in a se-ven-a side tournament for the Nond Shield; and a representative match would he played between the northern and southern schools of the district. Mr. Richards expressed pleasure at the state of school Rugby as disclosed by Air. McDonald. The chairman said that the Council had to sincerely thank Air.. McDonald for the great interest which lie took in school football and for the work which lie had carried on in connection with it.
On Saturday at the racecourse at It) o’clock, Foxton Primary school will play Otaki in the Austin Banner competition. The following will represent Foxton: — R. Coley, B. Coley, L. N. Walls," J. Chrystall, K. Matthews (captain), K. Coley, L. McCarthy, M. Symes, C. Croon, E. Devonshire, J. Wilson, B. Boswell, P. Easton and S. Bills.
