THE RABBIT PEST
CONFERENCE OF RABBIT BOARD DELEGATES.
On Thursday delegates from the different rabbit boards in the North Island met in conference in Feilding to consider the proposed new consolidated Rabbit Nuisance Act. Those present were Messrs K. W'. Dalrymple (chairman), B. N. Sandilands (Oroua Board), C. E. Johnston (Cheltenham Board), F. (J. Bailees (Manawatu Board), G. Derbyshire (Wangaehu Board), C. Smith (Patea-Wailotara Board), \Y. L. Grice (Kiwitea Board), C. B. Ileatley (Moawhango Board), and B„ D. Knight (Apiti-Pohangina Board). Mr. J. Gordon Eliott, M.P., was also in attendance. The proposed new legislation was fully discussed by the delegates who, apart from a few parochial difficulties, considered the measure satisfactory. Each delegate took notes regarding the particular clauses affecting the constitution of their respective boards in order to report back ' to their boards.
The executive committee of the North Island Rabbit Boards’ Association met afterwards, when it was decided to make arrangements to meet the officials of the Agricultural Department to further discuss the legislation. Messrs Dalrymple and Sandilands were appointed to deal with the matter. The new legislation will be introduced early during the forthcoming session.
