PROPOSED TRANS-TASMAN FLIGHT.

UNDER GOVERNMENTS’ AUSPICES.

Melbourne, June 15. It is unofficially stated that Captain Kingston! Smith’s flight to New Zealand will be conducted under the auspices of the Australian and New Zealand Governments. Canberra, June 15. Captain Kingston! Smith lias invited Warner and Lyon to accompany him and Lieutenant - Ulm on the New Zealand flight. Warner and Lyon,-however, are anxious to return to the United States, and have withheld their decision to see whether any Australians will volunteer for the honour.

NEW ZEALANDER OFFERS SERVICES.

In view of the suggestions that a New Zealander should ftv with Captain Kingston! Smith from Australia to New Zealand, Mr. L. V. B. Carmine stated to a “Dominion” reporter yesterday that he intended lo get. into communication with Captain Smith, offering Iris services as wireless operator. Mr. Carmine stated that he had had considerable experience in wireless work, and was three times the long distance world’s record holder. At the San Francisco Exhibition he came second in the world’s speed competition, the trophy awarded being the Carnegie diamond. He also said that he had a New Zealand Telegraph Department’s certificate for 43 words a minute.
