MARRIED WOMEN TEACHERS
— + NO INJUSTICE MUST BE DONE,
Referring to the employment of maimed wom'en teachers, at the Council of Education, at Wellington yesterday, the Minister of Education (Hon. R. A. Wright), said that whatever suggestions may be made for settling the question, there must be no injustice done to the married women at present employed by boards. It is true there are odd cases where a married woman is receiving a large salary as a teacher, while her husband is doing the same in that or some other profession. That is what caused the outcry against the employment of married women teachers. There are other cases, however, where married women are teaching in the schools, while their husbands are either in Jlll-health or unable to earn a livelihood. No exception can be taken to those cases.”
