TWO PRISONERS ESCAPE.
FROM MOUNT EDEN GAOL.
Auckland, May 25. An escape from Mount Eden prison was made early to-night by two habitual criminals —John Buckley and Frank Bailer. Search parties were out all night and up to 'an early hour this morning the prisoners had not been traced. Police stations in the Auckland district were immediately notified of the escape of the prisoners, and search parties were sent out from the prison. It is known that both men can drive a motor-car. Both men are New Zealanders with relatives in Auckland. Buckley is aged 20 years, and Bailer is also 20 years of age. Both men have been convicted on several charges of breaking and entering and theft. Buckley was sentenced to four years’ imprisonment and declared an habitual criminal in October, 1925, and Bailer was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment and declared an habitual criminal a year ago.
