MOTORISTS CAMPING AREA.

At the annual meeting of the Foxton Chamber of Commerce, held on Thursday evening, a letter was received from the Wellington Automobile Association asking for further particulars with regard to erecting sign posts directing motorists to the camping area. The letter whs referred to the Town Clerk to submit a plan. The Borough Council submitted a quotation of £3l 5s (id for installing gas in the park for use of motorists and asked if the Chamber could make some grant towards the carrying out of this work.

Mr. Perreau said the Park had been made good use of during the past summer by visiting motorists. Mr. Pearson said Foxton could become very popular with motorists if the camping ground was improved. A large number used it. Mr. Corn said it was customary in other towns for the Council to carry out the work of installing the gas.' It would be a., paying proposition. ' On the motion of Mr. Pearson it was decided to ask the Borough Council to place an amount on next year’s estimates for the carrying out of this work, as the Chamber was not in a position to assist financially.
