TRAIN ACCIDENT.
ENGINE SKIDS AND COLLIDES WITH CARRIAGES. NO ONE SERIOUSLY HURT. Gisborne, Last Night. It is reported that a train accident happened on the GisborneMotu railway line near Rakauroa this evening, and that several persons are injured. A relief train conveying a doctor and nurses left Gisborne at ten o’clock, but their return is not expected till the early hours. Later. Meagre particulars of the train accident show that the train left Gisborne in the afternoon for Mo- . luliora. It could not take the Otoko hill so it was divided and the engine took a few carriages up first. Coming down the engine skidded owing to the greasy line and the back portion crashed into the second half of the waiting train. A carriage containing first and second class passengers was derailed. It is understood that no one is seriously hurt, but three or '-four passengers are suffering from shock. The relief train with passengers, is not expected in before two o’clock.
