HOROWHENUA POWER BOARD.
MONTHLY meeting. The usual monthly meeting of the Ilorowhenua Power Board was held in Levin this week. The engineer’s report showed that during the month E.H.T. line No! (j was erected at Eoxton, broken lines repaired and trees cut down. During the period 14 applications from new consumers and 22 applications for extensions to existing installations have been received, comprising 3 ranges, 3 waterheaters, 4 industrial, and one pumping motor. Seventeen new consumers and 21 extensions have been connected, including 3 ranges, 4 water heaters, and 5 industrial motors. ANALYSIS OF LOAD. The analysis of the connected electrical load to May Bth ivas as follows:
TREASURER’S REPORT. The following report- was presented by the Treasurer: — Accounts.—Since the last meeting of the Board, accounts amounting to £782 17s have been paid. Wages account for £4lO, salaries £274, railway freight on poles and sundries £BS, the balance being made up of sundry payments. These accounts are now submitted for confirmation. Accounts to be passed amount to £2090 Os 2d. The largest item on the sheet is to provide for the redemption of Debenture No. 5 of our second loan of £40,000 from the Government Life Insurance Department. The amount of this debenture is £1350 10s sd, and it matures on. the 31st inst. The only account on the same sheet running into three figures is that of Messrs Richardson, McCabe and Co., Ltd. In this consignment there arc a few 40ft. and some 35ft. poles, lengths which are expensive to purchase, and which make the consignment of 161 poles, plus railage and wharfage, average £2 18s 8d at Levin Railway Station (Cost £2 5s Id, railage 10/2 and wharfage, etc., 3/5). One transformer and oil, meters, waterheaters, switches, lamps, shackles, and benzine account for the other principal items on the pay roll for the day.
The amount is not so large as for April last yeai\ As was to be expected, there is a very considerable falling off in the amount received for installations and service lines.
Advice was received from the Public Trust Office that the district manager at Levin bad been instructed to pay to the Board the final instalment of £IOOO of the reticulation loan of £IO,OOO.
