TOWN HALL. “Good as Gold” is the star attraction at the Town Hall to-night. Buck Jones, in the role of a son robbed of his inheritance, a fabulously rich gold mine by claim jumpers, gives a line performance that is made up of hard riding, daring swinging among the chasms of the Grand Canyon over vast depths, and touches of humor that causes the audience to thrill with suspense one moment and laugh the next. Also “The White Hope,” a boxing drama; “Putting Pants on Phillip” (Comedy), News andN.Z. Scenic. Usual prices. On Monday Monte Blue will feature in a whirlwind melodrama of New York’s night clubs “Wolfs’ Clothing.” Prices as usual. ROYAL. The Jackie Coogan special atIraetion “Buttons” will lead a fine programme at the Royal to-night. Rarely are immense liners associated with the stories of the screen, and after seeing “Buttons” moviegoers will wish ‘they were! It is in this palatial environment that the theme of “Buttons” develops, enveloping Captain Travers, his fickle fiancee, a rich idler, and “Buttons,” the captain’s page, in gripping drama —-and it culminates in the collision of the liner with an immense iceberg. Jackie Coogan’s admirers are literally legion, and not one will fail to pronounce “Buttons” his most memorable contribution to the screen’s greatest achievements. Also “Spanish Omelet” (Comedy), “Norway” and News. Prices 1/- and l/6i Children half price. Sir Philip Gibb’s story “The Reckless Lady” will screen next Wednesday, and at the next weekend Conan Doyle’s adventure story “Brigadier Gerard” will be the big attraction.
